Thank You

All things considered, this was a very good trip. I am glad to be home, but I will never forget the 2010 Jamboree. This truly was the trip of a lifetime because something like this will not happen to me again.
Thank you all who followed us on my blog, and my thanks to everyone who made this Jamboree possible.

So the Jamboree is winding down, and we still had great stuff going on!! In our Troop, 728, Jonathan Dawes won the Jamboree Fishing Derby!! Jonathan and his dad, Troop 728 Assistant Scoutmaster Dan Dawes wins an all expense paid fishing trip with Hank Parker, and an appearance on his television show, 'Hank Parker's Outdoor Magazine'. That is way cool. Tomorrow we spend most of the day packing things back up and getting ready for our departure on Wednesday. Additional fun photos!!

Jamboree is about connections, and I finally met Zac Freese today! He is the son of lifelong friend to my dad--Paul Freese, from West Virginia University. So finally, the sons meet! Even though the fathers have not been face to face in 12yrs, this was really cool.

Mike Rowe, Eagle Scout, spoke to us at the Arena show last night--he wants a merit badge for dirt!

Jamboree 2013 (and all future ones) will be held at the newly donated land in Wild Wonderful West Virginia! Bechtel Family donated this land, and I just want to say thank you!! The preview of it looked great, a lot of high adventure there!! Its officially called "The Bechtel Family Scout Reserve". Look at it and become a fan!

Yesterday, Thursday July 29, was a whopper!! Temps were at 98, heat index 108... a strong rain shower that had winds close to 30mph ...today was cooler, 85. I spent my day at the pool, I really needed to cool down!! I met a college friend of my moms (Auburn University--WAR EAGLE) as her two sons were here with their troop for the day. I am hunting down my dads best friend from college (West Virginia University--GO MOUTAINEERS!) as his son is here and we are going to exchange patches! BSA has the Shining Light Across America will start July 31 at 2:30pm PDT. Lots of coverage on tv, even at the Rainiers game--- you can link on facebook and even here: http://www.ustream.tv/shininglight

There was an arena show this Wed. morning for the opening of Jamboree. The host was the 2 millionth Eagle Scout. The Secratary of Defense, the Governor of Virginia, the Chief Scout Executive, and Miss America gave speeches. There were performances by the Golden Knights: the Army's parachute team, and the Air Force Precision Drill Team. The whole thing was kicked off by a fly over by 3 F-16s. photos compliments of bsajamboree.org. If you want to see more photos--go to http://www.bsajamboree.org/!!
